Since its inception, first as a leading effort with the Oxnard Region of the National Chicano Moratorium Committee, then as the Committee on Raza Rights, Unión del Barrio in Oxnard has consistently and humbly maintained a community organizing presence in our barrios de Chiques, Califas. We are part of the nearly 30 year Unión del Barrio organizing history that was conceived in San Diego, Califas, the birthplace of our organizacion.
We will be having a commemorative dinner reception in Oxnard, celebrating our continued commitment to Raza Self-Determination and Independent Community Power.
We will be celebrating 15 years of dedicated struggle in defending our community’s dignity and inevitable advancement toward complete freedom from the chains of colonialism and imperialism in all its forms.
Join us, Saturday December 18th as we will recollect the historical memory of our resistance in this region, as well as to honor those that have supported and stood with us throughout the past decade and half.
We will have music, guest speakers, solidarity statements, a delicious dinner that will be served. The event also serves as a grassroots fundraiser with tickets $5 presale, but nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. Proceeds will benefit the grassroots Todo Poder al Pueblo-Defend Our Rights Campaign.
Please, come out and support, and help spread the word.
